Two Fine Songs
A beautiful, breezy, sultry voice - Sara Tavares, from Cape Verde. All the elements of this video combine into a fluid and freeing sensuality - dynamic, playful. Reminding about balance in life.
African blues delivered straight from the heart of Malian guitarist and vocalist Vieux Farka Toure, combining with South African-born, Dave Matthews' flawless, melting vocal interpretation. A beautifully streamlined message.
Two fine songs that I hope you enjoy.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I might just eat a hot dog tomorrow for Fourth of July.

Hello Mama Shujaa, thanks for posting these. I sat still and listened to every note on both songs.
ReplyDeleteIts interesting the way many songs in Portuguese sound as if they share a common origin, when in fact they may come from places as divergent as Cape Verde, Mozambique and Brazil.
Ms Tavares' tune is not dissimilar to what say Brazil's Gilberto Gil would sing.. And as for the second one, I had to listen to it a second time to really take it in. Ha, its made my Sunday.. lol
Hi, Anengiyefa, glad you listened to and enjoyed the two tunes. Right you are about common origins, and crossover sets. They both move our conversations forward, they speak for themselves...
ReplyDeleteSmoking hot. Both the clips and hopefully that hot dog. :-)
ReplyDeleteTavares been on my radar long now. I've pretty much dug everything she's done so far. Vieux is... wow, Vieux is just Vieux. Need I say more? And Dave Matthews is the dog's bollocks, Mama! And that's a compliment in this neck of the woods! :-)
Greetings from London.
