Eating, Drinking, Sleeping Football

We are in the vast and beautiful city of Johannesburg where everybody is eating, drinking, sleeping and dreaming soccer. Yesterday, we watched a fantastic World Cup 2010 Opening Ceremony and opening match at a Fan Park in Sandton City.

Some questionable officiating notwithstanding, RSA should have won that match over Mexico. Even so, we are pleased with the 1-1 draw, especially after France and Uruguay tied at 0-0.

This morning, I am at an internet cafe, my keyboard has a few sticky letters, I'm getting tired of backspacing to fill in a missing e, o, t and f here and there. So, I'll be back as soon as I can with details; the ambiance...

This afternoon, Nigeria plays Argentina at Ellis stadium, we will be there.  The vuvuzelas are deafening!

  1. Wow!!You are sooooo lucky. We are watching it all on the box and it is so vibrant and colourful. It must be amazing to be there soaking it in live and direct.

Bafana did very well in the opener. I hope that Eagles do us proud. Enjoy your vacation.

  2. I've been so excited just knowing you are there. I just cannot imagine how magical this is for you. I kept an eye on the score yesterday and living vicariously thru how it must be to actually be there. I'm giddy on your behalf!

  3. Thanks all, we are having a rocking swell time. So far, Bafana Bafana and the Black Stars of Ghana are doing the continent proud. The Eagles just played ok, mostly in the second half. I hope they play better and qualify for the next round.

It is getting pretty cold - wool hat and gloves weather - snow in northern areas - brrrr! Loving it.
